Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past

Frustrated by being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses track practice as an opportunity to shower.

Alone, he is haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from his past

As night falls, he couldn’t be more different from the cocky, boastful personality of his school.

Along comes Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher dealing with his own problems

He sees Nate’s hidden talent and need for care and guidance where no other teacher sees it, and decides to help him.

But in a surprise twist, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and led away in handcuffs

Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only posts bail, but agrees to take Nate to his home, despite the raised eyebrows he receives from his fellow teachers.

Stan is willing to do whatever it takes to help his troubled student

But the question is, can we really help someone if we are not willing to help ourselves?
