Feng liu yi dai 2024 Magnet
The woman doesn’t have a single line of dialogue throughout the entire film
A Chinese woman lives for herself in silence, celebrating the flourishing Belle Epoque with song and dance.
I watched this film without knowing anything about it
I never talk about the plot in my review, you can find it everywhere!
And it feels more like a set of scenes, different styles, strung together
So I thought, “Oh, he’s so clever, he uses a lot of old films to make it look like it was made 20 years ago.” and I thought, “Oh, this film is much more experimental and artistic compared to his other films.” I watched this film because I really liked Mountain Might Depart and Ash Is Purest White and A Touch of Sin.
After finishing it, I went online to look at reviews and found out that it was actually made from material that the director had filmed before
It’s kind of a dreamy, floating quality, it feels like a documentary and then it’s also fiction, but it works, mostly because Zhao Tao has this magical presence on screen and you’re looking at her, wondering what she’s going to do next.
So I would definitely recommend this
If you’re looking at this title, it means you’re already open and ready to watch something different from the mainstream US movies.
Seems a little quiet over here
