Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, is trying to take over the reins of Gotham’s crime world. Aside from the bat signal in the final image of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: where the hell was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to have the Penguin’s version smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out.

I wish they were just as good

I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood how you could take a skinny, handsome, fit actor and put huge prosthetics and a fat suit on him… especially when I think he looks like other famous actors. I didn’t even understand why this spin-off was coming, and to be honest, I’m sick of Batman reboots.

But I didn’t expect to like it so much

But after the first episode I will confirm that this series is great (so far). I only watched it now because it was a mandatory transition between the first and second movies and my surprising appreciation for Farrell in the role in the first. The acting is fantastic, the script is superb, and it surprised me with some quick twists.

The biggest thing I liked was that it was much more colorful than Batman

I noticed this almost immediately, because for me it was a major complaint about the movie (it felt like I was watching it through a Zack Snyder lens). I hope it continues to be this good because I can’t wait for the next episode.
