After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, plays a show to take control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from the bat signal in the last shot of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in The Penguin. In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?. Colin Farrell tried hard to get his version of the penguin to smoke in Batman (2022), but failed. For his own series, however, the character was portrayed as an occasional tobacco user, with a penchant for cigars. The DC Studios logo is located in a rainy Gotham alley. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Featured on The Graham Norton Show: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). The first episode is a direct sequel to Matt Reeves' Batman and I imagine those who haven’t seen the last one will be a bit lost. But I watched Batman a while ago, and this series did a great job of quickly picking me up where the movie left off without getting bogged down in a didactic summary. It also captures the aesthetic and dark tone of the film well, although the series has many more moments cunning frivolity of the film. As in Batman, Colin Farrell brilliantly portrays the Penguin as a stereotypical mobster "streetfighter:" rough, nasty, lively and prone to violence; but also understanding, cunning and able to read people. The character may have absolutely nothing to do with version of the comic, but it’s interesting in its own right. I’m skeptical of the performance Penguin gives as the teenage sidekick; and I don’t know if the Penguins’ intrigue will be enough to sustain a full season. But so far it’s off to a great start.
